Bus Passenger Kills Armed Robber



An armed robber was shot and killed by a licensed firearm holder in the wee hours of yesterday morning as he attempted to rob passengers on a public transport bus on Spanish Town Road.

The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force identifies the dead man as 23-year-old Kingsley Gunter, also known as Gummy, of First Street in Trench Town, Kingston 12.

According to CCU's report, around 5 a.m., Gunter was posing as a passenger on the Toyota Coaster bus, which had just left the bus park in downtown Kingston for its destination, when he attempted to rob the passengers.

Fired Several Shot

It is reported that he brandished a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver and fired several shots in the bus as the passengers refused to hand over their belongings.

The licensed firearm holder, returned fire, hitting Gunter.

The CCU said that the Denham Town police were summoned and Gunter, the licensed firearm holder and the conductor were seen suffering from gunshots wounds.

They were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where Gunter succumbed to his injuries.

The licensed firearm holder and the conductor were reportedly treated and released.
